Cláudio Medeiros teaches Theatre and directs for the stage at Middlebury College in Vermont.
His wide-ranging interest in dramatic literature has led him to direct a variety of plays, from Shakespeare, Greek tragedy and European classics to works by contemporary Latin American authors and North American playwrights like Tony Kushner, Sarah Ruhl and Daniel MacIvor. He is currently working on an English translation of three plays by Griselda Gambaro, Argentina’s most important female playwright of the twentieth century. Medeiros is also a master instructor with Pinnacle Performance, and in that capacity he employs his theatre experience to help individuals become more effective communicators. A native of Brazil, Medeiros divides his time between Vermont and Montreal. In addition to English and Portuguese, he speaks French and Spanish. He holds a PhD in Theatre from the University of California at Berkeley.
